Analysis: One of the standout runners from Colorado, Mia Prok, topped the charts and made it in the top 15 on the MileSplit50 preseason rankings. Prok continued her success after a memorable freshman year.
Last year as a sophomore, she ran a season's best in the 5K at the Desert Twilight XC Festival with a 17:06.40 to finish third.
As the season unfolded, Prok finished third at the Colorado 4A State Cross Country Championships before she finished 77th at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships.
Moving into the outdoor season, Prok finished in the top 10 at the Colorado Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800m and 1,600m.
The rising junior continued to excel when she faced national competition. In May, she finished third at the RunningLane Track Championships in the 3,200m with a lifetime best of 10:16.09 and was 11th in the 1,600m with a 4:54.28. She also finished 14th at the NSAF Outdoor Nationals in the mile when she clocked a season's best of 4:52.83.
