In NCAA track and field, and especially in this day and age, it's fairly common for a school like the University of Florida to land a superstar talent via the transfer portal
However, what the Gators just pulled off this past week is downright incredible.
Last Thursday, Florida announced the signings of Jasmine Montgomery from Oregon, Jayla Hollis from Arkansas and Laila Owens from Texas A&M.
To put it simply, that's a big deal.
We should note that all three of those women appear to be standard transfers as opposed to graduate transfers.
In many graduate transfer situations, athletes will look for a new university that holds their desired academic program that their current undergraduate university doesn't offer. However, none of the three women mentioned above have spent more than two years at the collegiate level.
