Last Friday marked the beginning of the 2022 World Athletics Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., a 10-day event featuring some of the top track and field athletes in the world as they vie for world titles.

Only three full days into the competition and the U.S. has already garnered notable medals on the men's and women's sides, including stunning podium sweeps of the men's 100m and men's shot put, along with impressive 1-2 finishes in the women's pole vault and men's 110mH.

But before they starred on the world stage, what did these medal-winning American athletes accomplish at the high school level?

Scroll below to see how American medalists fared in their specialty events in high school, as well as examine updated results from the championships.

We will track results and U.S. medalists throughout the week as the action continues at Hayward Field.
