BEGINS AIRING JULY 30 - AUG. 6

The 2018 AAU Junior Olympic Games saw middle distance phenom Brandon Miller step onto the track ready to challenge one of the longest-standing marks in the AAU record books.

In the 15-16-year-old Boys 1,500m finals, the John Burroughs (MO) talent looked determined to surpass a nearly 40-year-old record.

Miller accomplished that feat in impressive, wire-to-wire fashion.

3:58.10 not only garnered the win for Miller, but also eclipsed the previous 3:59.10 national age group record set by Jim Jennings in 1980. It also made for his eighth-straight AAU Junior Olympic title in the 1,500m, an event Miller showed great expertise in beginning as a young club athlete.

Miller later went on to grab the 800m win at the 2018 meet in Des Moines in 1:50.14, falling just short of his own age group record in the event.

With a new national record and two more national titles to add to his collection, Miller left Des Moines in 2018 with a solid reputation as perhaps one of the best to ever do it at the AAU level as a specialized mid-distance racer.
