Fresh off his whirlwind performance at the Virginia High School League Class 6 Championships, Xavier Carmichael walked away with National Performer of the Week honors.

Just how did he get there?

The Hayfield Secondary School senior was first in the 100m (10.54), second in the 200m (21.45), third in the high jump (6-6) and second in the long jump (23-3), racking up a total of 32 points by himself -- good for fifth-place in the team standings.

Over the ensuing week, Carmichael compiled over 368 votes and just over 44-percent of the vote, netting him his first NPOTW win.

A big congrats goes out to Xavier on the honor, and to all the other nominees.

Now let's move on to Week 12 action.

We will recognize a winner every week in this poll, with nominations handed out on Monday. The votes will close on Friday and the winner will be announced the following Monday.
