Performance: It was a special night for Michalak in Huntsville, Alabama at the RunningLane Track Championships.
Under the lights, Michalak had one mission -- it didn't matter if she won or not, she just wanted to set a new personal best in the mile.
The sophomore hasn't accomplished this feat since she was in eighth grade.
After a blazing last 400m, Michalak was able to check the win and the new personal best off her to-do list. She clocked a lifetime best of 4:44.46 to grab the victory against an elite field.
