'Just Pulling Away, That Was It'

The Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI) girls set a new national record in the 4x800 on Sunday at New Balance Nationals Indoor, posting a final time of 8:51.93. The team consisted of Emily Cooper, Sarah Forsyth, Cookie Baugh and Rachel Forsyth.

The mark surpassed a record that stood for over 20 years by Boys and Girls (NY), which was at 8:53.67.

The performance was the latest from Purple Track Club -- the club which the high school ran for this weekend -- which also set a national record in the 4xmile on Saturday. The team owned a U.S. No. 1 performance of 8:59.20 from February at the SVSU Distance Festival.
