Times don't lie.
Five of the country's top 10 athletes at 800 meters are scheduled to run at New Balance Nationals Indoor this weekend in New York City.
But consider this:
- Two athletes from Newbury Park who are entered don't have indoor times at the distance this season -- though they have run recently, one has run outdoors for 800m, and both have been very, very good
- There's a Canadian international who would rank No. 2 in this field based off his last performance in February
- The top seed in the field ran his time on a 300m oversized track
So are there any guarantees?
Of course not. This is the 800m.
In section two, there are runners like Alex Leath, Saxon Brown and Myles Plummer who have the talent to win outright but who weren't placed in the fast section.
In section one, the race includes the likes of Colin Sahlman, Aaron Sahlman, Cade Flatt, Marcus Reilly and the Canadian Micaiah Ellis.
