5. Luke Himes, Indianapolis Heritage Christian (IN)

- - -

Year: 2024

Event: Shot put

When and Where: Feb. 5, Louisville Indoor Games

Performance: Himes has been his class' top shot put thrower since December, and it hasn't really been close.

Over the weekend, the sophomore added to this accomplished resumed with another big throw, landing a runner-up finish in the shot put with a mark of 58 feet, 1.25 inches at the Louisville Indoor Games. He was second behind Indiana No. 1 Tucker Smith, one of the country's top throwers.

That performance was his fourth straight over 58 feet. Right now, Himes' best mark (58-9.75) is four feet father than the next closest athlete in the sophomore class and is the top underclassmen throw in the country.

It's also among the top 25 sophomore throws of all-time. He's inching ever-so-close to 60 feet, which is a mark that only 12 sophomores have accomplished indoors all-time.
