2. Keegan Smith, Knoxville Catholic (TN)
- - -
Year: Class of 2025
Event: 1,500m and Mile
When and Where: Millrose Game Trials, Jan. 12
Performance: 4:04.88, 4:20.97
Breakdown: Smith is turning into a bonafide star. But we've known that since the fall, when the Knoxville Catholic (TN) first-year athlete ran the fastest 5K ever recorded for a freshman (14:53.79). After this weekend, his times in the 1,500 and mile are historic now, too.
Right now, his performances in the 1,500m and mile are 12 and 16 seconds faster than the next-best freshman in his class. Furthermore, his 4:04.88 from the Millrose Game Trials stands at No. 4 all-time for freshmen all-time, just four seconds behind Marcus Reilly's all-time 4:00.05, which the Massachusetts-based athlete set last year.
Smith's mile time is No. 6 all-time in the freshman class, too.
