The first week of the new year finished with a newly-crowned National Performer of the Week on the boys side.

And after Week 1's round of voting, Woodstock's (GA) Will Sumner came away with the win, accumulating 1,351 votes and just over 47-percent of the tallies. His recognition came by virtue of a big performance on Dec. 31 in Birmingham, Alabama. Sumner clocked a new U.S. No. 1 time of 1:52.38 in the 800m to secure the win.

Following closely behind in the poll was Mount Tabor's Terrell Robinson, who captured 43-percent of the votes after a standout performance in the 60m.

A big congrats goes out to all the nominees and to Will (right), our overall NPOTW Week 1 winner.

We will recognize a winner every week in this poll, with nominations handed out on Monday. The poll will end on Friday and winners will be announced the following Monday.

Winners and gear from the previous National Performer of the Week presented by New Balance series -- dating back to July 12 -- are still being processed. We have kept track of your information and will email you once the New Balance order goes out. Stay tuned!
