Five Athletes To Watch At The Texas A&M Indoor Classic

Anastacia Gonzales, Boerne Champion (TX)

Class of 2022

University of Arkansas signee

A wildly talented mid-distance athlete, Gonzales is set to compete in both the 800m and the mile over the weekend in College Station. She's coming off a spring season where she won a UIL Class 5A State Track and Field title in the 1,600m and was third in the 800m.

Overall, Gonzales' junior campaign was a banner season.

She logged a U.S. No. 44 time of 4:49.11 in the 1,600m, went a U.S. No. 15 mark of 4:44.87 in the full mile, and scorched the track with a U.S. No. 30 performance of 2:08.61 in the 800m. She also claimed an AAU Junior Olympic Games title in the 1,500m in August.

But if we're being fair, she doesn't have that much experience indoors.

She's run in just two indoor meets since 2020. So a star turn at the Indoor Classic could present some very obvious signs of growth for the Arkansas signee. It's a surefire win-win situation.
