Less than 100 votes separated first from second place in last week's National Performer of the Week presented by New Balance boys poll.

But really, that's nothing new. The race for top honors has been stiff over the past several weeks.

On Friday, Elkhorn South's (NE) Gabe Hinrichs secured the Week 14 bag after earning 1,296 tallies and just over 42-percent of the vote.

LaSalle Institute's (NY) Gitch Hayes was second with 1,201 votes.

It was well earned. Hinrichs won top honors by virtue of his big win at the Team Heartland Region, where he ran a career-best 5K time of 15:00.00 in Sioux City, South Dakota.

A big congrats goes out to Hinrichs, Hayes, and all the nominees for last week's honor.

Now let's move on to Week 15 of the NPOTW XC poll.

Make sure you vote for whom you think should win this week's honor. Voting will end Friday, and we'll recognize the winner every Monday during the unveiling of the newest poll. Better yet, each boy and girl winner will win a pair of New Balance shoes.

We are requesting winners (or their parents or coaches) from each week to email Cory Mull at cory.mull@flosports.tv and Olivia Ekpone at olivia.ekpone@flosports.tv to notify us of your contact.

For NPOTW winners dating all the way back to July 12, we haven't forgotten about you! We have kept track of your information and will email you once the New Balance order goes out. Stay tuned!

Vote below in the poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments. You can also vote in our National Girls Performer of the Week poll.
