Smith first caught our attention when he placed second behind Catawba Ridge (SC) High School's Sam Rich at The Southern Showcase. Smith was one of only three guys to run sub 15 minutes for 5K at the meet.
The Knoxville Catholic High School (TN) freshman has since run 15:44.50 to win the Bristol Cross meet. His best finish to date has still been The Southern Showcase, which earned him a 186 speed rating, the fastest of any freshmen this year.
