Throwback Thursday: Tristian Merchant Wins AK State XC Title

In 2020, Tristian Merchant concluded his senior season with a course record, an Alaska state record, and his third straight cross country title at the ASAA Cross Country Championships.

The Anchorage Christian (AK) graduate and current NAU athlete finished the course at Bartlett in 14:51. He was the only athlete to break 16 minutes for 5K at this meet last season. 

This season, there will be a new champion crowned.  

David Sliwinski of Grace Christian (AK) is the top returner from the fall as he finished second to Merchant at the state championship. He also has the fastest time in the state with a 16:05.
