The New Jersey Meet of Champions had an exciting finish to the girl's 3200m race over the weekend.
With one lap to go the race appeared to be all but in the bag for Lakeland Regional High School's (NJ) Angelina Perez. The junior had opened up a large lead on the rest of the field but as the last meters of the race clicked away, it was clear that the chase pack was gaining ground quickly on Perez.
It wasn't until the home stretch that River Dell High School's (NJ) Christina Allen and Kent Place High School's (NJ) Lindsay Hausman came storming into the frame.
With 50 meters to go, it was clear the duo had a chance to catch Perez. In the final 5 meters, Allen passed on the outside and gained a slight advantage to take home the win in 10:46.36. Hausman finished second running 10:46.41 and Perez would place third running 10:46.53.
