Old Bridge Clocks US No. 2 SMR Behind Incredible Anchor

- - -

The Old Bridge sprint medley relay team was chasing the Middlesex County record when they hit the track to compete at Monday's South Brunswick Classic in Monmouth Junction.

Although the quartet of Nik James, Chuk Nwankwo, Samar Raju, and Nick Medeiros came up a little short in that attempt, they still came away with an eye-popping performance, stopping the clock at 3:29.73! That's the fastest time in the state and No. 2 in the nation this season, and No. 2 in Middlesex County history.

After James and Nwankwo ran the 200 legs (a combined 45.90), Raju ran 51.12 for 400, and Georgetown-bound Nick Medeiros cranked out a 1:52.73 anchor.

Old Bridge's 3:29.73 trails only the 3:28.04 by Lewisville Marcus of Texas on the national high school list this season, and is behind only the 3:28.14 that Old Bridge ran at the 1999 East Coast Relays on the Middlesex County All-Time Outdoor list.
