FHSAA Boys Class 3A 3200m
The boys 3200m event as a whole this weekend was wild and featured some of the fastest performances we've seen possibly ever on one weekend. A total of 28 boys from meets across the country broke the 9-minute barrier in the past seven days.
One athlete who came ever so close in his freshmen year at the FHSAA State Championships was Leon (FL) High School's Patrick Koon. Koon clocked a 9:07.78 for a new freshmen class No. 1 time in 2021. His time also ranks fifth all-time amongst the freshmen class based on times in the MileSplit database.
Although he had a stellar race Koon finished second behind Belen Jesuit Preparatory School (FL) senior Javier Vento. Vento won both the Class 3A boys 3200m in 9:02.61 and 1600m in 4:14.58.
