Athletes to Watch: Paige Sommers (CA)Chloe Timberg (PA), Emery Prentice (LA), Heather Abadie (LA)

The pole vault will definitely feature some high risers. And a California state record holder.

A handful of the nation's best -- the top eight pole vaulters in the country, in fact -- who have cleared 13-feet or higher will be present and going after the title. Sommers, jumping for the first time since February, will certainly be in the mix for a title, too. She's cleared 14-6 outdoors.

US No. 2 Chloe Timberg of Central Bucks West (PA) cleared 13-10 at the PJC Meet #4 this last weekend.

From Louisiana, Emery Prentice of Vandebilt Catholic and Heather Abadie of St. Michael finished first and second at the LHSAA Indoor State Championships. They are both tied for US No. 3 at 13-9, but at the state meet, Abadie won the title with a clearance of 13-5.25.

US No. 5 Payton Phillips, US No. 6 Kenna Stimmel, US No. 6 Emma Stone, US No. 17 Brynn Rychlik, and US No. 17 Johanna Duplantis -- the sister of World Record holder Mondo Duplantis -- are all ranked within the top 17 in the nation in this event.
