Birmingham Parker's Jekovan Rhetta exploded out of his drive phase on Saturday in the fast section of the 60 meter dash at the Holiday Invitational to earn a US No. 2 performance, posting a time of 6.79 seconds.
Rhetta is now one of three athletes nationwide to have produced a time faster than 6.80 on the indoor track and field season. The mark, which is a 0.07 second improvement from this same time last year, is also No. 4 all-time in Alabama indoor history.
Rhetta, a University of Alabama signee, was unmatched out of the blocks before he proceeded to dial in a nearly perfect race en route to a career best performance.
Rhetta improved 0.02 seconds from his previous best of 6.81, which he accomplished at the Martin Luther Track Classic in January at the same venue.
