Coral Reef Distance Star Krystal Rodriguez Commits to OSU

Coral Reef distance star Krystal Rodriguez announced her commitment to Oklahoma State University on Monday.

Rodriguez's family took to Twitter to announce the news.

The future OSU Cowgirl has risen in the distance rankings this year. Earlier this spring, Rodriguez captured three big PR's on the track including a 2:12.63 for the 800m distance -- the fourth best time for the event to come from anyone in Florida this year.

In addition to her 2:12 800m, the senior holds a 5:01 1600m PR, 11:09 3200m PR, and she recently ran a new cross country 5k personal record of 18:13 at the FSU (Pre-State) Invitational.

The South Florida native is the second Floridian to pick the Oklahoma State University program in the past few years next to Lake Brantley and OSU alumna, Sinclaire Johnson, who announced her professional debut this year.

Coral Reef is one of the few Miami-Dade schools that opted-in to the FHSAA State Series this November. Rodriguez will aim to defend her top ten state finish from last year's State Championship in one of the most competitive classes this 2020 season, class 4A.
