What XC States Could Now Look Like In May

The VHSL has moved XC to the spring. Whether we agree or disagree with this move or the motives for the move it is our reality and that means it is time to wrap our minds around what these championships could and should look like this May.

Here is the basic information thus far regarding states:

What MileStat has been able to garner is that the League and state meet officials will be looking to make few major changes as it relates to the meet itself. That means we should expect the meet to be roughly the same size but be open to the idea wave starts.

Locations for these meets have not been finalized but both host teams are working with municipalities to secure the facility around this date. With many other events and sports being cancelled, securing the facilities should not be too hard of a task.

The biggest changes to the meets will be weather, just prepare yourself now for much warmer conditions, and the qualifying. With the emphasis being on less contact and less events, it looks like regionals could look different and the number of teams headed to states could be different as well.

There are still so many questions to be answered but from everything we could gather, the VHSL, meet administrators, and VTCA are all working to make States safe and most importantly, happen this school year.

More on this will be updated when more finalized information is posted and sent to us.
