"Brandon Miller is killing it!

Five years ago, the AAU legend of Brandon Miller was slowly coming into focus.

For years, the prodigious 800 meter runner from the boroughs of St. Louis, Missouri, had been scooping up national records and numerous national titles across the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

But by 2015, Miller was finally entering a pivotal moment for his athletic growth: His teenage years.

And once again, the year-end competition -- this time at Hampton Roads, Virginia -- gave him a moment to prove his development on the track.

And he surely came ready.

The 13-year-old Miller was out on a mission during the 800m, heading through the first 400 meter split in an awe-inspiring 55.87 seconds.

By then, Miller had formed an unmatched 30 meter gap on his next closest competitor.

Next up was the 600 meter mark, which he passed in 1:26.2, and then the finish, where Miller crossed in a remarkable time for an athlete of his age: A time of 1:56.41, which was a new AAU Junior Olympic national and world age group record.

Miller surpassed his own best performance of 1:58.61, which he accomplished that same season.

It all led one of the well known announcers of the AAU Junior Olympics, Bill Lott, to exclaim: 'Brandon Miller is killing it!"

Retrospective:

Miller's ascension in track and field didn't stop there.

The young talent entered high school at John Burroughs (MO) High School in 2017 and continued his prolific success at the next level, winning an individual 800m title and contributing to three relay championships in his first season.

Miller successfully eclipsed the 1:50 threshold that same season, going 1:49.87, then followed as a sophomore the next year, posting a best of 1:49.55.

While an injury limited Miller his third year in high school, he set a 400m best of 47.42 in 2019 and has continued to race smartly.

In November, Miller signed with Texas A & M University, a program known for developing top quarter- and half-mile talent.

Better yet, Miller has one final high school race lined up: The Illinois Meet of Champs at the end of July. There, the Missouri athlete will look to race his fastest 800m yet.
