Cameron Rose Earns NC Gatorade Player Of The Year Honors

Cameron Rose's US#2 All-Time 300m At The VA Showcase

Hickory Ridge senior Cameron Rose has been awards North Carolina Gatorade Track & Field Player of the Year for the 2020 season.  Though their was no official season, Gatorade made the decision that they would still give the award in 2020 using the indoor season and athletes careers as a base metric on the athletic side of the award.

Cameron Rose broke two state records during the indoor season in the 200m Dash and the 300m Dash running 20.94 and 32.84.  Both were the top marks in the country this season and are also US#6 All-Time and US#2 All-Time Indoors respectively.

"The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Rose as North Carolina's best high school boys track & field athlete."

Press Release

Rose will go down as one of the best sprinters in North Carolina history.  It's disappointing we weren't able to see how fast he could go outdoors after such a strong indoor season.  But he will continue his track career at the University of Virginia Tech where I'm sure he'll be amongst the best in the NCAA.

Rose becomes the first track & field athlete ever from Hickory Ridge to earn this award.
