Monique Hardy has been inching closer all season.

On Thursday, the Webster Thomas (NY) senior achieved her biggest throw yet, landing No. 2 on the all-time indoor weight throw charts with her 66 foot, 11.25 mark at The Millrose Games in New York City.

Hardy is now just a shade removed from the national record of 68-2.5, which was last achieved in 2011 by Shelby Ashe of St. Pius X Catholic in Atlanta.

Hardy didn't take long. After a foul on her first attempt, she hit the historic toss on her second throw. She would go on to post a 58-plus-foot mark on her third attempt before a fourth-round foul. She would pass on her final two attempts.

The mark was Hardy's first on the top 10 charts in the weight room. Previously, she had been spying just outside with a previous best of 64-7.25, which was No. 11 all-time. Earlier this season, on Jan. 25, Hardy went 63-feet at the Trent Jackson/Cedric Walker Invitational.

Hardy, an LSU signee, is MileSplit's No. 43 recruit in the Class of 2020 -- one of just two throwers on the list.
