Darius Kipyego decided he was going after the Rhode Island state record at 800 meters in his very first indoor track and field meet of 2019-2020.
The result?
He got it.
Then there's Brandon Miller. Injury forced the John Burroughs (MO) senior, one of the country's best 800m talents, to miss much of his junior season. So the Missouri half-miler is back at it this indoor campaign.
There are standouts like Owen Likins and Justin O'Toole who have had career races to begin their senior seasons, and others, like Conor Murphy and Alex Fleury, who are still yet to race at the distance.
