The origins of this entertaining high school distance running rivalry between Valor Christian's Cole Sprout and Newbury Park's Nico Young began last season during Nike Cross Nationals.
The pair were separated by just a few seconds, third and fourth. Then it followed at the Arcadia Invitational, where each hung on for an incredible 3,200 meter effort separated by less than a second.
And now it continues, one year later. The duo's final high school cross country race of the season, and their careers, will take place at NXN on Saturday.
This matchup is sure to bring the fireworks.
