Thomas Boyden, the fastest distance runner in Utah this cross country season and the No. 10 ranked athlete on the current MileSplit50 rankings, announced his commitment to Stanford University, one of the nation's best NCAA distance programs, on Tuesday.

Coupled with the recent pledge of Cole Sprout, the No. 2 ranked athlete on MileSplit's Class of 2020 recruiting board, the Cardinal in recent days have seen its recruiting stock jump through the roof.

The Skyline High School senior has thrown down some of the fastest times in the state this fall, qualified for, and became an All-American at Foot Locker Nationals in 2018 and competed among a national 1-mile field at Brooks PR last track and field season.

He owns personal records of 4:11.13 in the 1,600m and 8:57.79 in the 3,200m and this fall has finished top three in two major invitationals, winning Bob Firman and placing third at Desert Twilight. He owns a 3-mile best of 14:37.50 and a top effort of 14:39.62 for 5K.
