Mississippi Weekly Preview For Week 5


Well, maybe third time will be a charm. The PCS Invitational is the next in a series of MAIS big meets. If the weather stays away this will be the first time racing this season for many MAIS teams. Currently, 26 teams and 521 athletes are registered for this meet if everyone shows up. Clay Olson, Madison Ridgeland has the top time for the boys this season, and Lydia Snopek, Madison Ridgeland is the fastest girl.

JPS Meet 4 is on with Brookhaven and Northwest Rankin schedule to face off. Aubrey Britt Loyd Star is registered in the girls race.

The Union County Championships has 5 teams with New Albany being one of the top teams.

The Wingfoot XC Classic has no Mississippi high school teams.

The Daphne Invitational in Spanish Fort, Al only has East Central currently scheduled to run there. 

Heritage Christian and Sacred Heart are the only Mississippi scheduled to run at the Holy Cross-Dominican Invitational in New Orleans.

Ocean Springs looks to be the big meet in South Mississippi this weekend. Currently 22 teams are scheduled to run but several of the team have not entered athletes. Long Beach is not entered here. 

Saltillo will be another big meet with 42 teams and over 1000 athletes. Pearl and Oxford will face off for the first time this season with full teams. However, with the 1-3A and 4-6A division some top athletes like Brock Kelly, Tupelo Christian will not face other top athletes in the large school race. Pearl and Oxford with not be alone as they have to face a strong Saltillo team.

TCBY Invitational in Tuscaloosa will have the Mississippi School Mathematics and Science attending.

No Mississippi teams are scheduled to run at The Southern Showcase in Huntsville.
