Analysis: It wouldn't be out of the question to see Nico Young on top of the podium at NXN come December. Young will be the second-best returner to the meet behind Valor Christian's Cole Sprout. There isn't a whole lot that separates the two. Cole got the better of Nico by two seconds at Nationals, but Nico got him back on the track at the Arcadia Invitational. The duo went head-to-head in a down-to-the-wire battle in the 3200m where they finished in 8:40.00 and 8:40.73 with Young getting the win. Young finished his junior season with four sub-9-minute 3200m performances, including a win at the CIF State Track and Field Championships. He's also run 4:08.82 for the full mile. Young will look to not only run well for himself again this season but also for his team, as they have a strong shot to not only make it to nationals but possibly walk away with a top-five finish or even make the podium.
