2019 MileSplit50 Individual Boys XC Rankings Countdown

School: La Port, TX

Year: 2020

Notable Finishes: Secnd 2018 Class 6A UIL State Cross Country Championship, second 2018 Nike South Invitational, second 2019 Texas Distance Festival track 5K, first 2019 UIL Track and Field Championship 3200m and runner-up in the 1600m.

Analysis: Ryan Schoppe had one of the biggest wins of his career on the track last season when he won the adidas Boost Boston Games Dream Mile in 4:09.15. One month before that, he won the Class 6A UIL 3200m State champion, running 8:52.73. He was also runner-up in the Class 6A 1600m, clocking a 4:07.47--both of those times are his PRs. He's also run a 5K track PR of 14:27.58 at the Texas Distance Festival when he took second to Flower Mound's (TX) Alex Maier. On the cross-country course, Schoppe hasn't really seen national-level competition outside of the top tier talent in the state of Texas. There is huge potential in Schoppe's abilities this fall as he was second behind Maier at the 2018 Class 6A UIL State Cross Country Championship. He did not compete in NXN or Foot Locker last year, but don't be surprised if he makes it to nationals or one or both of those meets in 2019.
