The 200m
When: Saturday, June, 8
8:15pm (MT) - 200 Meter Dash Elite Girls
8:30pm (MT) - 200 Meter Dash Elite Boys
Who: Devon Achane (TX), Cameron Anthony- Miller (TX), Lance Broome (TX), Kennedy Lightner (AR), Ashton O'Conner (TX), Robert Gregory (TX), Caleb Boger ( TX ), Taylor Banks (FL), Kam Jackson (LA)
Why: Much like the 100m, the 200m is loaded with some of the nation's best talents. Headlining the field will be the Texas Class 4A-6A state champions.
Coming in with the fastest time in the field is current US No. 3 Devon Achane of Fort Bend Marshall (TX). He was the UIL Class 5A boys state champion in 20.69 (+1.1) and had the fastest time of the meet for all classes. Katy Seven Lakes' (TX) Lance Broome was the UIL Texas class 6A state champion with a US No. 5 time of 20.83 (+0.2) and Houston Wheatley's (TX) Robert Gregory was the class 4A state champion with a 21.12 (+0.5). Gregory's PR however is 20.91 from the Region 3-4A Meet.
One guy who should not be slept on in this race is Dallas Bishop Dunne's (TX) Cameron Anthony- Miller. We haven't had the chance to see him compete in any big time meets since he ran the 100m at Texas Relays and placed third. He has run four all-conditions sub-21 second times this season and hasn't been slower than 20.98 since his first 200m race of the season. With some serious competition on the line, watch for Anthony-Miller to have a big time performance.
