Loveys And Esteves Shine at NJAC Championships

RESULTS

Abby Loveys and Meghan O'Malley sparked Randolph to the girls title, and Raul Esteves was a triple winner winner to lead Morris Knolls to the boys title at the NJAC Large School Championships that concluded on Wednesday at Morris Hills.

The Princeton-bound Loveys turned in a red hot double, winning the 1,600-meter run in a NJ#1/US#12  4:48.87 an the 800 with a huge PR and NJ#4 2:13.85. The 4:48.87 is just off the PR of 4:46.03 that Loveys ran to win the 1,600 at the Meet of Champions last June.   

O'Malley was also sensational for Randolph, which outscored Pope John, 112-94 1/2.

O'Malley won the long jump (17-10 1/2), placed first in the TJ with a 38-3, and placed second in the high jump (5-4) and 100 hurdles (15.02).

Carlie Wilson of Sparta had a great meet, winning the high jump with a PR of 5-6, and the the 400 hurdles in 1:03.99), also a PR.

In the boys competition, Estevez won the 100 (a PR of 11.15), and the 200 (at PR of 22.52), and he ran on the winning 4x400 (3:28.19) to help lead Morris Knolls to a 86-60 victory over runner-up Morris Hills.

Morris Knolls also picked up wins from Christopher Tavarone in the discus (a PR of 169-10) and Brendan Kovar, who won the 400 in a PR of 49.25 and ran on the victorious 4x400. Kova also placed sixth in the 100 and fourth in the 200.
