Senior and junior athletes have been dominating the National Performer of the Week poll for some time.

But for the first time this year, and possibly in this poll's history on the boys side, a freshman ran away with the recognition last week.

Following his freshman class record in the 5K at the Connecticut Distance Festival, Manchester (CT) High School first-year Aidan Puffer scored National Performer honors with over 66-percent of the vote. He went 14:47.66 to finish third in the race.
