Tasty Race Of The Week: Stanford Invitational 1600m Battle

The boys 1600m at the Stanford Invitational was a battle we've seen play out similarly once before this year. It was between two of the best athletes in the nation, Redwood's (CA) Liam Anderson and Jesuit's (CA) Matt Strangio.

Just a few weeks ago at the Dublin Distance Fiesta, the duo raced head-to-head in the 3200m with Strangio taking the win, running 8:47.97, and Anderson placing second, running 8:56.88. This weekend the tables were turned.

The duo was neck and neck until a little more than 100m to go. That's when Anderson made his move. He pulled away ever so slightly to take the win, running a new US No. 7 time of 4:13.49. Strangio would finish second in 4:14.40, just off his PR of 4:13.41 for a new US No. 11 time.
