Fort Worth Christian's (TX) Carter Cheeseman and Winona Cotter's (MN) Grace Ping both finished second overall for the American Junior teams, with Cheeseman scoring highest among high schoolers with his 31st-place finish for the 8K race in 26:25.00. The American U20 squad was sixth overall with 154 points, the highest overall place for any USA team at the World Championships.

Ping, meanwhile, was 60th overall in 23:45 for 6K, while Katy Cinco Ranch's (TX) Heidi Nielson was 74th in 24:13.

The athletes navigated an extremely difficult, lapped 2K course in Denmark which featured various hills, mud, water pits and varying cross country conditions.
