Girls 60mH Championship: Shadajah Ballard vs. Jasmine Jones

Contenders: Kori Carter, Darci Khan, Aasia Laurencin, Jazmine Tilmon, Christina Warren

Why:

This should be an electric final.

Ballard has been on top of the national leaderboard for much of the year before Jones, a junior who competes for ATL Zoom and finished third in this race last year, scooped up that top mark on Feb. 16 at the UK High School Invitational.

Just a hundredth of a second separates Ballard (8.33) from Jones (8.32), so assuming each hurdler makes the final, we should have a new national winner here. Ballard was seventh in the finals of this race in 2018.

Tia Jones, a senior at Wheeler High School, turned pro this indoor season and is not eligible to compete. Last year's second-place runner, Grace Stark, isn't entered just yet, either.

Beyond those two, Carter is ranked No. 3, Laurencin is No. 4, Tilmon is No. 11 and Warren is No. 7 in the country.
