Analysis: No result is ever guaranteed, but cross country often has a special way of teaching teams lessons about expectations versus realities. A year ago, Mountain View was considered one of the top teams to place at the NXR Northwest Region, but the reality didn't shape up that way. Instead, the squad limped to a fifth-place position and out of consideration for a qualifier to NXN -- not even in the potential wildcard spots.

This year will be another test of wills for the strong Idaho program, especially with junior Lexy Halladay, who's qualified for two straight NXNs, leading the way. But the team will have to carry that truth with them everywhere they go. The squad returns six out of its top seven and should see improvement from juniors Camryn Pritchard and Adelynn Rosin and sophomores Kortlyn Lowry and Morgan French.
