Opening thoughts: As with the Lady Greyhounds program being the premier team in Indiana, the boys are just as heralded with 15 state championships in the school trophy case. The Greyhounds have won four state titles in the last six years. Carmel has also qualified for NXN four times in that same six-year time frame to lead the Midwest among boys programs. In addition to cross country success, they captured a third consecutive state crown in track & field. Carmel has finished either first or second in Indiana's single class system on the grass or track for the last eight seasons.

Individual breakdowns:

Calvin Bates (11) - A contributor and scorer since his freshman year, he finished strong at the Nike Midwest Regional to close the door on team scoring and help secure one of the two coveted automatic berths. Next year's team leader (along with classmate Thomas Gastineau) to help continue on the string of success.

Keelan Grant (12) - One of the all-time improvement stories in state history, he has risen from a freshman with a PR of 20:30 to be the number one runner in the state finals and Nike Regional. Currently undecided on college and still experiencing the recruiting process.

Trey Harris (12) - One of two repeat NXN participants after the team qualified in his senior year, he caps off a career of running in the varsity nearly every meet. Also a major contributor in the track season, he anchored the team's state championship 4x8 and qualified individually for the state meet in the open 800. Still undecided on college plans.

Ben Johnson (10) - A rapidly improving sophomore, he ran 16:04 on two occasions, including the competitive semi-state meet. He will be a key part of continuing the tradition of success in upcoming years with experience of NXN a valuable part of that.

Ben Miller (12) - The team leader who has also run on the varsity every meet since entering high school, including NXN as a freshman. He ran 9:10 over 3200 meters last fall in his third-place finish at the Indiana state meet and has overcome some small illnesses to contribute at the state meet and Nike Regional this fall. Will continue running career at Indiana University next fall.

Colin Murphy (12) - The top runner for most of the past two seasons, he has twice finished in the top 20 at the Indiana state meet in cross country. His 15:19 at the semi-state is one of the top performances in school history. Will continue running career at Indiana University next fall.

Ben Myers (10) - A scorer in nearly every meet, he has also overcome some setbacks in regards to illness to contribute at the state finals and Nike Regional. Potentially the next athlete in a long line of Carmel Bens to finish All-State. His improvement from promising freshman to sophomore scorer has been key in helping team to reach its potential.
