Top 7 USA Athletes To Watch At Pan American Juniors

7. Joseph Anderson

Event: 110m hurdles

Hometown: Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.

School: Upland High, Class of 2017, University of Oregon

Breakdown: Anderson finished second to Langham Creek (Tx.) High's Eric Edwards at the USA Junior National Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but the Oregon signee flew up the national leaderboard late in his CIF season, dropping his 110m hurdles time to 13.56 at the CIF Southern Section Masters and then continuing with a US No. 2 mark of 13.33 at state, where he earned his second straight gold medal. After finishing sixth at the USA Junior National Track and Field Championships in 2016, Anderson had slightly more confidence this time around and scored an automatic qualifier for the Pan American Junior Games just behind Edwards, who finished in a nation-leading 13.32 seconds. Anderson has been devilishly fast over the last few months and he, along with Edwards, should compete for a medal at Pan Am Juniors if all goes according to plan. Anderson also earned a double at CIF, winning the 300m hurdles in 36.02, and was fourth at New Balance Nationals Indoor in the 60m dash.
