Flo Golden South Stud Alert: Kayla Johnson

The best of the best are signing up for Flo Golden South. Today's Stud Alert is Southridge (Fl.) High senior and University of Miami signee Kayla Johnson. Johnson is a 400/800 specialist who was third in the quarter-mile at the 4A state championship and champion in the 800 meters, ran the lead leg of the winning 4x400m relay team, and helped Southridge to the team title. Her season best of 2:07.59 is the fourth fastest in the country while her 54.35 from state is US#28. Those times make her the top seed in both events this weekend.

(Kayla Johnson runs 2:07.59 at the Pepsi Florida Relays to set a MR and then US#1 time.)

Johnson will be joined on the South Dade Express team by fellow quarter-miler Kasia Cooper, jumper Courtney Gibson, and Gulliver Prep standout Jazmyn Smith. Her toughest test might just come in the 800 where she will square off in a rematch with Wharton's Bryanna Rivers who she edged out at the line just two weeks ago.
