7. DJ Principe is Back ...And Don't Blink
It was only a matter of time before La Salle Academy (RI) senior DJ Principe made his entrance into the spring track and field season.
Opening up last week at the Penn Relays in the boys DMR -- where he ran the mile -- the Stanford University signee got his legs under him in a complementary race.
He followed this weekend with his first big headline-grabbing performance, notching a time of 8:16.60 in the 3000m, which stands as a new US No. 1 effort.
With the effort, Principe surpasses his future Stanford teammate Connor Lane, who is US No. 2 with a time of 8:24.01.
