4. Darby Thomas lands a big performance -- unfortunately non-wind legal --in the long jump
The Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln (IA) High sophomore, who won her first state title in the long jump last year as a freshman, is ramping up just in time for another run at state.
Darby landed her third-best career PB with a jump of 18 feet, 4 inches on Thursday, outmatching her competition by nearly three inches.
Thomas, who also runs the 100m and 400m, needs three more inches to tie her career best of 18-7.75, which she accomplished last May.
