3. Grace Ping records an age group world record at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival
Grace Ping, the Winona (Mn.) native and world age class 13-year-old, dropped a 16:26.83 in the 5K at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on Friday, beating 144 college athletes.
She was 10 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor, a senior from the University of Missouri.
It was an age group world record for the eighth-grader, who broke her own record, a time of 16:36, which she ran at the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot in 2016.
