Britton Wilson Rebounds & Runs 400 National Sophomore Record!

NEW YORK, Ny. - Hitting the workouts hard after states really paid off for Britton Wilson this weekend. She finished 3rd in the championship 400 with a sophomore national record of 53.250. She opened in a 25.592 for the first 200.

This performance actually took down one of the oldest records on the books. The previous sophomore best was run by Andrea Thomas of the Bronx, NY back in 1985 meaning that she is now 47 years old and finally saw her high school record fall 32 years after the fact. All this means it was a legit record.

Overall though this season has been quite the roller coaster for the Mills Godwin sophomore. It began with a bang with her just blowing away the field week in and week out. She basically could do nothing wrong and won every race she was in until states.

That is when things did not go as planned.

Despite all the regular season success, states just proved to be not her weekend. She competed in multiple events but was bested by Syaira Richardson and Kori Carter. She turned that all around though and got back to the basics of hard work and confidence. She put in numerous workouts between states and nationals this past weekend it was obvious that she was on another level.

Britton is unsure if the 200 or 400 will be her focus outdoors but she is certainly going for that state title.
