We named this moment the No. 1 Upset of 2016 on Tuesday, and it also makes the top five overall moments on this list...

Before this summer's IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, no American had ever medalled over 1500m at the world junior level. Jordan Hasay finished fourth in the finals in both 2008 and 2010 and Elise Cranny was fourth in 2014.

Before the event, USATF Junior Nationals champion and Nike professional Alexa Efraimson seemed like a lock to break the dry spell. The 19-year-old, who turned pro before her senior year of high school, owned the fastest time in the field at 4:03.39.

Stanford commit Christina Aragon entered her first international event with a quick PR --4:09.27-- but no prior international experience. At the U.S. Olympic Trials, Efraimson was sixth in the final and one second away from the Olympics while Aragon failed to advance from the semi-finals.

But in Poland, it was Aragon who dug deepest in the final homestretch to claim Team USA's first-ever medal in the event at the junior level. Ethiopians Adanech Anbesa and Fantu Worku swept the first two spots in 4:08.07 ad 4:08.43 while Aragon ran a PR of 4:08.71 for bronze.
