New Jersey's State Champion Alyssa Aldridge won the Foot Locker Northeast Regional on Saturday running 17:40. That was a PR of seven seconds on the Van Cortlandt 5K layout.

Her win also marks her as the first New Jersey girls winner since 1988 when when Christie Constantin of Kittatinny HS won running 17:42. Before that it was Janey Smith of Edison in 1983.

The only other finisher in the top 30 for the Garden State was Alyssa Condell of Timber Creek who earned 27th running 19:02.8. That place gave her Third Team All-Northeast honors.

On the boys side Elliot Gindi of Ocean Twp and Matt Grossman of Millburn continued their great fall seasons by advancing to Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego, CA on December 10th.

Gindi placed fourth in the Championship race running 15:40.4, stating that was his goal coming off a big win at the Meet of Champions, to advance to Nationals. This is his first career qualification for the National meet.

Matt Grossman finished seventh overall running 15:46.1 but he took a round about way to get there. After the start Grossman took a tumble and found himself in dead last behind the race, despite the less than convenient start he managed to work his way back up front through the tight trails and packs of other runners. This is his second straight qualification for FL Nationals.

New Jersey also had three other runners finish top 30. Justin Cornetta of Hunterdon Central took 15th at 16:06.3 and Joey DeFeo of Delbarton finished 19th running 16:11.6. Both of them making Second Team All-Northeast.

Millburn's sophomore Ramsey Little finished 26th running 16:18.7, giving him Third Team All-Northeast honors.
