Tastier Race of the Week: Fayetteville-Manlius Girls, Kelsey Chmiel Dominate New York State Meet

New York State Championships results & coverage

This weekend's races were so loaded that we came back for seconds. Yesterday, we highlighted the Texas Class 6A State Championship boys race. Today, take a look at the New York State Championships Class A Girls race, which pitted No. 1 Fayetteville-Manlius against Saratoga Springs (then ranked No. 2) and North Rockland (then ranked No. 12), plus an individual battle between No. 6 Jess Lawson, No. 7 Kelsey Chmiel and No. 20 Katelyn Tuohy.

The FM Hornets would win their 11th straight New York state cross country title, while Chmiel of Saratoga Springs would win her first --in record time, no less-- as she clocked 17:17.5 to win the race by 19 seconds and break Lawson's course record by nine seconds. Check out the in-depth recap here.
