The No. 1 ranked Fayetteville-Manlius girls have won the past 11 straight Class A state titles and nine of the past 10 Nike Cross Nationals titles. Is 2016 another title year?

So far, it looks to be so. The Hornets won the Section 3 Class A Championship with a perfect score of 15 points and a 47-second spread. At the competitive Manhattan Invitational Eastern States Championship, they placed all five scorers in the top 12 for 34 points with an impressive 32-second spread, well ahead of No. 12 ranked North Rockland, who scored 141 points for second place.

No. 2 ranked Saratoga Springs hopes to keep things close. The Blue Streaks won several out-of-state invitationals this fall (Wingfoot in Georgia, Great Meadow Invitational in Virginia) but won the Section 2 Championship by just three points over unranked Shenendehowa.

Saratoga Springs appears to be missing a few girls due to injury. Projected top five runners Alex Delnicki and Amelia Mahoney were missing from recent line-ups: Delnicki has not raced all season and Mahoney raced only at the season-opener in Virginia.

North Rockland doesn't have the depth to be a title threat, but just placing top three here is a real challenge and would be help to garner an NXN invitation in a few weeks.
