Saucony Flo50 Pre-Season Boys XC Team Rankings Countdown

American Fork was the team to beat in 2015. Killing it with style as they rocked the shades they finished 3rd at the Utah State Meet, 4th at NXN Southwest Regional & 2nd at NXN 2015.  Having a solid team leader in returner Casey Clinger was a key ingredient to American Fork's success.  In 2015, Clinger was the Utah State Champ, NXN Southwest Regional Champ & the NXN 2015 National Champ.  With three returners coming back this season there is no doubt American Fork is looking to repeat as the NXN Champions. The team may want to keep their shades on, for the 2016 season is looking very bright for American Fork.

How has summer training gone for your team? What do you focus on during the summer months?
Summer has gone well. We had a great high altitude camp in July, and most of the boys have been really consistent in their Summer mileage. Our focus is on a big aerobic base in the Summer.

Which athletes do you see as the probable top five this season?
Casey Clinger(12) - State Champion, NXN Champion, 4:07, 8:50
McKay Johns(12) - 31st at NXN, 4:09, 9:10

Who are your team captains or leaders and what stands out about them as examples for the rest of their teammates?
Casey, McKay, and Patrick are our Senior team captains. They work extremely hard, and try to pull the rest of the team with them.

Who are some new faces who will make an impact on your team this year? (i.e. freshmen, transfers, runners who have improved a lot)
Remains to be seen.

What are some staple workouts your team does during the season?
3X 1 Mile, 4X1200, 5X1000, and 2 mile power runs.

What will be the biggest reason why your team is successful this season?
What we did in June, July, and August.

Our youth and inexperience. We only have 4 boys on the team with more than 1 year experience in XC out of only 27 boys on our roster.

How would you describe your team's culture?
We try to be a family, with each athlete supporting each other.

What are your top three goals for the team this fall?
Stay Healthy.
